“We have genuine concern for TASC and its customers, employees, representatives and the community.”

This is one of TASC’s company values and is proudly carried out under the TASC Cares Program which is a combination of the charitable arm of TASC, as well as the arm that sponsors and supports employee welfare initiatives.

Community

The leaders and employees of TASC are actively involved in affecting positive change within the communities that we live and work. The United Way of Dane County is creating real, long-lasting solutions through the Agenda for Change, the seven goals identified by the community as most critical.

Over the past years TASC and its employees have donated nearly $100,000 to the United Way of Dane County!  TASC has also received many awards including the Silver Award (1999), the Award of Distinction (1999 and 2004),the Best Practice Award (2004 and 2005), the Community Chest Award (2004 and 2005), and the Red Feather and Gold Awards in 2005.

Dan Rashke, President and CEO of TASC, currently serves as the 2006 Key Club Chair. As quoted on the United Way of Dane County website, Rashke states, “Leadership exists in many forms. Participation in Key Club is a way to demonstrate my desire to be a leader in the community. It is also an opportunity to be affiliated with other leaders, and together, create a substantial impact in our community.” Generous contributions from Key Club donors represent nearly one-third of the total United Way campaign.

Typically 26% of employees donate at companies that sponsor a United Way campaign, but TASC has 57% participation. This comes in all kinds of different forms including time, talent and treasure donated by TASC employees and the organization. TASC provides its employees with paid-time-off in order to accommodate volunteer activities in the community. The company also allows employees to organize and manage employee fundraising during normal work hours. Fundraising presentations are made during regularly scheduled staff meetings. In addition, TASC matches the employees’ donations on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

TASC also sponsors Red Cross Blood Donations by actively participating in the One-A-Week Club. This is a commitment to donate a minimum of 52 pints every year to the American Red Cross. The national average of the eligible population who is willing to donate is less than 3%; over 33% of TASC employees have donated blood this year!

Don Rashke, founder and Chairman of the Board, is very active in Community Theater, supporting these programs with financial and promotional assistance, volunteering and acting. Don produced a local play entitled “Bang” which dealt with gun control. As result of the play, donations were made to the Wisconsin Committee on the Prevention of Child Abuse, allowing the Committee to expand its services and programs.

Don Rashke was also involved with Special Olympics, sitting on the statewide Special Olympics committee and chairing the sub-committee on promotions that was responsible for contracting and securing celebrity involvement. Both Don and Dan assisted in running workshops for Special Olympics participants on noncompetitive and team orientated sporting events.

Through the efforts of Don and TASC, uninsured families can now purchase health insurance for family members with epilepsy. As an active member of the Wisconsin Epilepsy Board, Don also put together a program to underwrite Life Insurance coverage for people suffering from epilepsy. Before these efforts, insurance policies for epileptics were extremely difficult to obtain.

Dan Rashke has been very interested in the well being of Wisconsin children and it is reflected in his fundraising and volunteering efforts. Dan was active as a volunteer in Big Brothers/Big Sisters for five years. In addition, Dan was also on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit childcare center and donated over $6,000 to the center.

Recently, Dan got involved with The Help Fund, LTD. The Help Fund is a public charity organized for the purpose of helping individuals and families who are in severe financial need due to medical problems, including, but not limited to uninsured medical expenses, organ transplants or other tragic life altering events generally considered beyond their control. Dan and his wife Patti organized a fundraiser for this group, raising over $10,000 for the organization.

In addition, TASC has offered employment opportunities to participants in the Madison Area Rehabilitation Centers program.

While we believe good deeds speak for themselves, we recognize that companies can serve as role models for the other companies and individuals they touch in the course of building relationships. We encourage you to participate in your community and support charitable organizations, as you are able.

Employee Welfare

In addition to our commitment to the community, TASC has a strong commitment to the welfare of its employees. Opportunities for personal and professional growth are available to TASC employees through an educational reimbursement program, Brown Bag Learning Series, and health and wellness programs including participating in the annual University of Wisconsin "Crazy Legs" Walk/Run, Weight Watchers weight management programs, and in-house exercise classes.

For over 3 years TASC has been FISHing. The FISH! Philosophy provides a common language for everyone to use when considering how to create a great working environment.   Play!, Make Their Day! Be There! and Choose Your Attitude! – these are the key elements of FISH! that are promoted by TASC employees on a daily basis.

At the center of any great organization is a great employee recognition program. TASC’s Achiever Program is a comprehensive employee recognition program that awards employees for excellence in a variety of areas – everything from teamwork, leadership and initiative.  This program has produced real results through “out of the box” thinking and extraordinary efforts by TASC employees.
