Senior Software Engineer (J2EE, SOA)

This position works in a highly motivated geographically dispersed software development team creating application solutions for a digital medial (video/audio)software product. Responsibilities include analyzing and defining software architecture for current and next generation product platforms, software and product development, selecting capabilities to enhance offerings, and interfacing with customers and management.
Responsibilities:
- Define software architecture for next generation product platform
- Analyze architecture solutions, predict, prove and provide solutions for issues in large scale, high performance, high available software solutions
- Create proof of concept to ensure feasibility of implementation
- Software product and technology development
- Create specification from requirements, architecture and detailed design
- Hands on software development as well as lead software development
- Help review test plans, test suites test cases (unit, integration, functional, performance/load testing, etc.) and reports
- Study, analyze, and report performance on the software system
- Create appropriate documentation and provide technical training
- Work in a team of software engineers
- Choose appropriate technologies, framework, tools to build next generation technologies and products
- Follow software development processes and policies; help create such policies when necessary
- Handle integration with customer’s system
- Create and present architectural solutions to management team
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science/ Engineering
- 6+ years of relevant professional experience
- 4+ years with Java, 2EE, and web application development, and JVM behavior and tuning
- Experience with remoting, web service development and Java/J2EE web services
- Experience with high performance database design, data modeling, implementation including stored procedure and performance tuning for OLTP and data mining
- Experience architecting and developing Web Services, production deployment and strong understanding of Web Services and related XML standards, including SOAP, WSDL (1.1 and 2.0), WS-I Stack, Security, SAML, XSD, Relax NG, XPATH, XSLT, and Semantic Web Specification ( RDF, OWL, etc.)
- Experience in developing software product addressing high availability and scalability
- Experience with JBoss, Tomcat, Ant, Maven a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication and leadership skills
- Experience with development frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.), and J2EE technologies such as JSP, JMS, JMX, JCA, JAAS, EJB, etc.
- Hands on experience with various messaging technologies (ESB, messaging oriented middleware), business processing and integration technologies and business rule engines; clear understanding of trade-offs between various commercial and open source solutions
- Hands on systems experience analyzing performance, scalability, high availability of a given architecture and provide risk assessment based on business requirements considering performance, capacity and cost curve of various computing element such as CPU, network, memory, disk storage, etc.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, enterprise/network security, storage technologies and performance
