Agile Team Lead (457)

POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is, but is not limited to, providing technical and personnel related leadership, support, and guidance to dedicated application development teams in TASC’s Business Technology Services (IT) department. This role will use agile development methodology expertise with teams ensuring that agile best practices are implemented from planning to execution. This role will oversee high impact projects that are executed with agile methodology. This position will have responsibility to educate, standardize and grow the agile methodology of projects across the organization.

This is a full-time, exempt position working core hours of Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm CST. The position will report to the Manager of Application Development and will work from our corporate offices in Madison, Wisconsin. TASC supports a remote workforce, so this position can be located anywhere in the United States. Candidates would need to be able to come in to the office periodically for project work.

POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in a dedicated Application Development team that includes Developers, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Technical Leads and Project Management to deliver a compelling Software product
  • Serving and supporting multiple Agile teams in their quest to do everything possible to meet their Sprint goals
  • Protect your teams, ensuring teams meet delivery by committing to what they can achieve and not getting influenced by others outside of the process
  • Coordinates Sprint planning and execution along with any other meetings (daily stand up, backlog grooming, release planning, pointing sessions, retrospectives, conflict resolution, decision making etc.)
  • Identifies and works tirelessly to remove any and all impediments that would prevent the Agile teams from achieving their Sprint goals (internal to the team as well as external)
  • Guides and coaches Agile teams and the organization in how best to use Agile practices and apply their principles to drive higher levels of agility
  • Brokers consensus in difficult and sensitive situations
  • Builds trust and relationships with executive sponsors and other key stakeholders with effective and influential communication skills
  • Effectively navigate a matrixed organization to meet the desired end result of the project
  • Regularly manage the project and resource interdependencies within a program for successful completion
  • Developing, tracking, and reporting key performance metrics including velocity, throughput, and quality; using these metrics to improve team performance
  • Creates and maintains release burn downs, velocity projections and project forecasts in order to create project visibility and ensure timely project adjustments

  • Deep knowledge of Agile principles and practices and a demonstrable talent for teaching them to others

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Project Management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple work tracks in a timely and effective manner
  • Ability to learn new practices and apply them in a practical way
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends as deadlines dictate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience (five or more years) is required
  • Experience playing a team lead role for at least five years for an application development team of 20+ members applying appropriate principles, practices, and theory
  • At least one year of experience using JIRA Agile and Confluence
  • AT least one year of experience with User Stories and Epics
  • Successful, prior experience working in a technical role in an application development organization
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I), a plus
  • Exposure to application development teams using Amazon Web Services API Gateway, a plus
