TASC COBRA Client FAQs

How do I inform TASC COBRA of premium rate changes?

COBRA regulations require that COBRA Participants receive timely notification of changes. If new rates are received within 15 days before the effective date, TASC COBRA must delay implementation of the new rates (by more than a month) until the first of the next month (i.e. rates received January 20 will be effective March 1). This could result in the employer owing the rate difference to insurance carriers without being able to collect the funds from COBRA Participants.

To submit updated rates and/or benefits plans, sign in to your MyTASC account at tasconline.com. Click Plans & Products, then Add Plan at bottom of page. Enter the Plan information as directed. Alternately, you may complete a TASC COBRA Premium Collection Form (located in your Client Administrative Manual). Submit a separate entry online or complete a separate form for each type of Plan (medical, vision, dental, etc.).

To securely submit the information to TASC for processing, attach the completed form to an online MyService Request (from MyTASC, click Contact Us).

  • You may also fax the information to TASC at 608-663-2753.
  • You may also mail the form to: TASC COBRA, 2302 International Lane, Madison, WI 53704.

How do I verify that TASC COBRA has the correct plan and rate information?

  • From the home page, click Plans & Products.
  • Select a Plan from the list by clicking on its name.
  • Rates will display. If a rate is incorrect, note the error, exit the window, and click Service Request to send a MyService Request.

How do I obtain a status report for our terminated employees?

From the home page, click Reports. The top section of the screen details reports that TASC has posted for your review. To run Custom Reports, click Select Report Type dropdown list. Select the desired report and enter a date range. You may choose to download to a PDF or an Excel spreadsheet.

How am I notified that a former employee has elected COBRA?

Once an election and initial payment are made, TASC notifies the employer by email within 48 hours of receipt. The employer should reinstate the employee retroactive to the original loss of coverage date. TASC does not communicate with the insurance carrier regarding enrollments or terminations unless special arrangements have been made.

How are my administrative fees calculated?

Administrative fees are determined between the Client and Provider at the time of initial Plan set up. Fees are calculated using a per Participant/per month schedule with a flat monthly minimum fee. Depending on your participation rate, you are billed the greater of these two amounts. Your healthcare-eligible Participant count is reviewed and calculated at Plan renewal for precision billing.

What are the election periods and time frames?

  • The employer must notify TASC that a qualifying event has taken place within 30 days.
  • TASC has 14 days from the date of the notice from the employer to inform the employee of their rights under COBRA.
  • The employee has 60 days from the postmarked date of the Election Notice to elect COBRA coverage.
  • The employee has 45 days from the postmarked date of the enrollment form (or the online election date) to submit initial payment of COBRA premiums.
  • The employee has 30 days from the 1st of each month to pay monthly COBRA premiums. Failure to have postmarked payment by the monthly deadline will cause termination of COBRA coverage.

What events terminate COBRA coverage?

  • The maximum available period of continuation coverage has been exhausted.
  • The employee failed to make a timely payment.
  • The employee becomes covered by another group health plan that does not have a preexisting condition exclusion.
  • The employee becomes enrolled in Medicare Part A or B.
